Gold, art and design: "Moments of Happiness" at the Venice Biennale

Gold, art and design: "Moments of Happiness" at the Venice Biennale

The work entitled "Moments of Happiness" was created for Piaget by the Verhoeven Dutch Twins, to conquer the Venice Biennale.

Signed by renowned Dutch designers, famous for creating fascinating and at the same time functional objects, it is part of the “Dysfunctional” exhibition hosted at the Giorgio Franchetti Gallery at CA ’d’Oro for the entire duration of the 2019 Venice Biennale.

The creativity of the Verhoeven combines historical symbolism and cutting-edge technology. All this thanks to some spheres in borosilicate glass with an iridescent effect for a sculpture that creates the illusion of being able to stop time.

"We are two storytellers from imagination to product", say the designers who for the first time used gold in their creation, thus honoring Piaget. The two also stressed that it took research to create bubbles. This is because borosilicate is the most transparent glass produced by man, cut with precision by Italian artisans used to working on jewels, to compose a complex and at the same time solid structure.

For Piaget, the connection with the world of the arts is nothing new: starting from collaborations with sacred art monsters like Andy Warhol, Salvador Dalì, Richard Avedon and Arman, and from the commitment to support the creative minds and values of art in toto.

With Dysfunctional, scheduled at the Venice Biennale until November 24th in one of the rooms of the Ca d'Oro, overlooking the Grand Canal, Piaget thus sheds light on the power of art in a delightful balance between form and function, art, gold and design.
