Hublot Big Bang: a classic and connected wonder

Hublot Big Bang: a classic and connected wonder

Since 2005, the Big Bang watch has been the emblem of third millennium Swiss watchmaking. The “connected” version appeared a couple of years ago in the form of the Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia TM model, equipped with innovative technologies. This formidable watch was much-used by both referees and fans to watch the matches as if they were in a virtual stadium.

The Hublot Big Bang, however, is super new and exploits the very latest technologies and Big Bang codes.

“The invention of quartz led to the birth of electronic watches in Switzerland around 1970. Fifty years have gone by and now we are presenting a second smart watch equipped with an extremely high level of technological sophistication, without neglecting the aesthetic values, technical features and excellence that have earned the Big Bang collection its reputation. Now more than ever, in line with our “Art of Fusion” motto, our aim for Big Bang is to unite Hublot’s highly advanced technical materials with the very latest innovations from today’s digital world.”

Speaking is Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of HUBLOT, as he presents the new model with its black ceramic or titanium 42 mm case and sandwich construction, an innovative style invented by Hublot in 2005. The model comprises 42 components, 27 for the K Module alone, and a digital heart. Metallized numerals and scratchproof sapphire crystal covered by an AMOLED high definition touchscreen. This extraordinary watch also features a rotary crown with integrated pusher that activates the controls for its electronic module.

The model has a “Time Only” analogue function, a Perpetual Calendar with a precise moon phase and a second GMT time zone that shows the earth in a truly realistic manner. Water-resistant to a depth of 30 metres, the watch is based on the Wear OS by Google™ system and enables customization to the smartwatch experience. Indeed, the wearer can access Google Play apps, get answers with Google Assistant, make payments with Google Pay, browse useful information and stay up to date with notifications and messages.

Dulcis in fundo, and highly original, is the version with eight dials designed by artist Marc Ferrero: the model changes colour every three hours so that eight creations are displayed in sequence over a 24-hour period based on a specific colour (Happy Yellow, Magic Blue, Orange Dynamite, All White, Lucky Green, Magic Red, Rainbow Spirit, Black Magic), and every hour is marked with a five-second animation.
