Alba Cappellieri: “Jewels – From Art Nouveau to 3D Printing”

The new historical/critical book by Alba Cappellieri, professor of Jewellery Design and Fashion Accessories at Milan Polytechnic and Director of Vicenza’s Museo del Gioiello jewellery museum, is entitled “Jewels – From Art Nouveau to 3D Printing”.

Presented during a special meeting held on 10th October last at the Pinacoteca di Brera art gallery in Milan, also attended by Gabriele Aprea, President of Club degli Orafi, and Vincenzo Castaldo, Creative Director for Pomellato, the book takes the reader on an extraordinary journey through the beauty and evolution of jewellery from the early 1900s to present day.
An itinerary that explores taste and times through gold-art creations and large international companies.

Starting at Art Nouveau, the book arrives at the numerous and new creative, production and communication processes determined by open source and which are now defining the jewellery scenes of the future.

A journey without boundaries, from France to Asia and the United States, from England to Germany, from Holland to the countries of the North. Among the masterpieces of Lalique, Vever and Fouquet to the elegance of Art Deco with the wonders of Cartier, Boucheron, Tiffany, Mario Buccellati and Fabergé, and on to the Van Cleef & Arpels and Bulgari inventions of the 1950s, the Dutch groundbreakers and the artistic jewellery of the sixties, up to the proposals of contemporary designers and stylists.

All to arrive at the new Millennium with the introduction of digital manufacturing, such as 3D printing, wearable technologies and possible future jewellery scenarios.
