A noble floor for Buccellati

A noble floor for Buccellati

The Noble Floor, inaugurated by Buccellati on October 6th at its boutique on Via Montenapoleone 23, seamlessly blends into a century-long heritage of artisanal excellence. Opulent and neoclassical, Palazzo Gavazzi was constructed between 1838 and 1839 by architect Luigi Chierichetti and has long been a landmark in Milan’s cultural life. Amid Doric columns, Corinthian pilasters, and statues of Caryatids, even the republican patriot Carlo Cattaneo resided here from 1840 to 1848, turning it into a space of reflection and debate during the Five Days of Milan.

Today, thanks to a restoration commissioned by Buccellati, the atmosphere of the era is rediscovered in a refined setting that enhances the frescoes, mosaics, and original architectural details while embracing contemporary comfort. The restoration of the Noble Floor was entrusted to Parisian interior designer Chahan Minassian, a master of blending historic ambiance with modern sensibility. With support from Milan’s Studio Quadrilatero, Minassian crafted a welcoming, opulent environment. Every detail, from the sofas designed by Chahan Interiors to the custom furnishings, speaks to a meticulously balanced harmony that maintains the brand's historic identity while exuding a contemporary elegance.

The color palette – featuring gold, lunar silver, and bronze – evokes the precious materials in Buccellati’s creations, enhanced by champagne-colored mirrors and metallic meshes that amplify the light and surfaces. Access to the Noble Floor is via a grand staircase that leads to a series of rooms adorned with frescoed ceilings, mosaic floors, and Murano glass chandeliers, culminating in two magnificent salons designed to welcome guests in an exclusive, intimate atmosphere.

In this sophisticated jewel box, Buccellati’s historic display cases, carefully restored, sit beside new creations by Minassian, striking a delicate balance between past and present. In addition to showcasing its jewellery and silverware collections, the Noble Floor offers a curated selection of vintage pieces, many from the Maison's historical archives. In a small atelier, visitors can even observe Buccellati artisans at work, masters in the art of engraving – a distinctive technique that marks every creation of the Maison.

“After over a century since Buccellati’s founding in 1919, and following significant international growth, it is time to celebrate this historic brand in the city where it was born,” stated Gianluca Brozzetti, Executive Vice President of Buccellati. “We have created a unique space that embodies the soul of the brand within a historic and prestigious setting, in the heart of one of the world’s most iconic luxury streets.”

Minassian’s vision was to craft an environment that felt as though it had always been part of the building, seamlessly integrating into its surroundings. “Buccellati is synonymous with luxury and tradition, but also with warmth,” explained the designer. “We wanted each visitor to feel at home in a space that, while sophisticated, knows how to welcome and inspire awe.”
