CIBJO: Tracking and tracing gemstones, diamonds and jewellery with DNA-based physical tracers and blockchain technology

The global gemstone and jewellery industry faces significant challenges in providing verifiable supply chain data on the origin and authenticity. Traditional methods of testing and documentation are vulnerable to counterfeiting and lack interoperability. The tracking and tracing technologies of Provenance Proof leverage two core technologies, i) the application of DNA-based, nanoscale physical tracers, and ii) a secure blockchain platform. This presentation will detail the technical specifications of the tracer material, its application and read-out via quantitative PCR testing, and present the blockchain platform designed for industrial-scale operation without third-party dependencies. The resulting benefits go beyond traceability: enhancing supply chain risk management, ensuring compliance with evolving international regulations, and combat counterfeiting.
