D.OR. Campania was established as a business network on 23 April 2024, thanks to the support granted by the Campania Region pursuant to Article 24 of the Regional Stability Law for 2024, number 24 of 28 December 2023. The promoting entities were Il Tarì scpa, Oromare Promogest srl, and the Antico Borgo Orefici Consortium. Confindustria Caserta, Federpreziosi Campania – Confcommercio, and Assocoral are part of the working group thanks to a shared memorandum of understanding.
Each organisation, characterised by a strong identity based on artisanal excellence, brings its own skills and resources to the service of the entire supply chain. Alongside them, represented by Federpreziosi, is the retail sector which in Campania, with over 1,400 points of sale, accounts for 15% of the entire national jewellery retail market.
The creation of D.OR. Campania, which becomes the sole interlocutor of the Region on matters of sector development and innovation opportunities, is the culmination of a shared path involving all players in the jewellery supply chain. The first significant step towards this was the convening of the coordination table – promoted in February 2024 by the Department of Productive Activities, Labour and State Property – for the establishment of a hub capable of supporting, also through the provision of grants, the creation of business networks and the enhancement of Campania’s excellence.
The common objective is to give momentum and unity to the Campanian jewellery sector in all its facets, by enhancing existing activities in the three main hubs of Naples, Marcianise, and Torre del Greco, the educational system represented by centres of excellence such as the Tarì Design School, "la Bulla" (Borgo Orefici), and the Istituto Degni in Torre del Greco, as well as the dense network of jewellery shops throughout the region.
Training is one of the main development axes to be outlined through a detailed feasibility plan. D.OR. Campania will promote scholarships for attendance at goldsmithing courses, as well as training sessions in management and organisation, aimed, among other things, at the creation of the figure of the District Innovation Manager.
The production sector has internationalisation as its main goal: Campania is currently the fifth Italian region in terms of number of companies (mainly concentrated in Naples and Caserta), and the seventh in terms of export value, amounting to approximately €36.1 million, with a 5% increase in exports in the last quarter of 2023. To support internationalisation, communication strategies that enhance brand identity are also essential, through advanced digital tools including the use of AI.
Attention will also be given to the tourism relaunch of Borgo Orefici and Torre del Greco. The revitalisation of the retail sector will go hand in hand with the strengthening of the production and business service identity of the Marcianise, Tarì, and Oromare hubs. Focus will also be placed on sustainability, circular economy, and innovation, through the creation of an Innovation Hub to benefit all actors in the supply chain.
