MINISTER TOMMASO FOTI IN ATTENDANCE AT VICENZAORO SEPTEMBER
This morning, the Hon. Tommaso Foti, Minister for European Affairs, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and Cohesion Policies, toured Vicenzaoro September. “It is my duty to be here,” he said at the entrance to the Expo Centre, “because the event effectively enhances the quality of Made in Italy across the globe. The Vicenzaoro brand is, in fact, able to attract interest from all those markets that value an economy which combines tradition and innovation.” Vicenzaoro’s senior management then accompanied Minister Foti on a tour of the new Hall 2 inaugurated a few days ago. “I would say it is truly spectacular. It adds further quality to a modern and welcoming venue. The decision to spread the exhibition over two floors was excellent, and all of this, combined with the beauty of the exhibits, conveys a sense of quality throughout.”
T.GOLD: TECHNOLOGY, DESIGN AND SUSTAINABILITY WITH THE JEWELLERY TECHNOLOGY FORUM
Ongoing today at Vicenzaoro September, the Jewellery Technology Forum will provide a moment of discussion between experts, companies and the academic world on the theme of “design – print – transform”. The event is being held in the Smart Hub in Hall 4, as part of an edition that, due to Hall 2’s additional new areas, marks T.Gold’s first appearance inside Vicenza Expo Centre. Key topics at the forum include the international economic situation, precious metal trends and the competitiveness of the Italian jewellery industry, alongside sustainability as a value and communication driver. Focuses will also be on the evolution of design in the age of artificial intelligence and additive manufacturing with a presentation by Mario Scarpa, founder of Humanum Est, and on the new frontiers of digital production and Industry 4.0 featuring Marco Luigi Giuseppe Grasso from Milan Polytechnic. A further focus will regard the applications of additive manufacturing and MoldJet® technology, presented by Matti Ben-Moshe from Tritone Technologies, covering innovation, design freedom and waste reduction. The programme will conclude with case studies on Binder Jetting 3D printing with Legor presenting the expertise gained from laboratory research in the industrial production of jewellery and fashion accessories.
VICENZAORO LAUNCHES THE NEW AKOYA PEARL STORY
The new narrative surrounding Akoya pearls was launched at Vicenzaoro, underway at IEG’s Expo Centre until tomorrow. The Japan Pearl Exporters’ Association has chosen IEG’s international trade show to reintroduce Akoya pearls to the US and European markets. And above all, to the younger generations. The diplomacy and trade bond between the Land of the Rising Sun and Italy has continued for over a hundred years, but culture and technology are even more important, as Koji Yagi, Japan’s Consul-General in Milan, emphasised at the opening of the event organised by Preziosa Magazine. Thus, the new narrative surrounding Akoya pearls has a distinctly Italian flavour that takes shape in the book entitled The Future of Akoya Pearl, edited by Paola De Luca, co-founder of Trendvision Jewellery + Forecasting. Akoya is a perfect example of sustainability, which is even more valuable today. Rising sea temperatures are putting pressure on oysters and reducing production, which is already significantly lower than it was twenty years ago. This structural limitation on supply, combined with strong Chinese demand and interest from European brands, strengthens Akoya’s positioning in the high-end and luxury segments, as George Kakuda, president of the JPEA, pointed out in an interview with Federica Frosini, editor-in-chief of VO+. The marketing and creative potential of this extraordinary organic material are the aspects explored by Alfonso Vitiello from D’Elia Company and designer Alessio Boschi during the event.
GEMMOLOGY AND HISTORY AT VICENZA’S JEWELLERY MUSEUM
The Jewellery Museum has become part of the Vicenzaoro programme thanks to its curator, Paola Venturelli, and the vice-president of the Italian Association of Gemmologists, Loredana Prosperi, who have traced a historical and gemmological route through the current exhibition Gioiello-Italia. Material Technique Art between ancient and modern. Particular attention has been paid to the link between art and goldsmithing, a typical and unique feature of the Italian jewellery tradition, whereby the value of a piece lies not only in the preciousness of its materials, but above all, in its craftsmanship, which is still a hallmark of Italian-made products to this day. The exhibition, housed within the 15th-century section of the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza, takes visitors on a journey centred on materials, beginning with gold and continuing with coral, which has linked the Italian peninsula from north to south and with the rest of the European continent, before culminating in designer jewellery, a true expression of the artistic nature of Italian goldsmithing.
