A white olive tree at VOJ18

A white olive tree created by artist and gemologist Agatino Cappella, with a base made of olive root, a trunk in Carrara marble, branches and leaves crafted with 3,333 grams of platinum and 3,003 diamonds—2,503 in Marquise cut and 500 in Dluce cut with 82 facets, for a total of 366 carats.

These are the precious features of the extraordinary The White Olive Tree – L’Ulivo Bianco, the symbol of the World Diamond Group Platinum Award, unveiled for the first time during the 68th Venice Film Festival and exhibited in many cities around the world, including Hangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Doha, at the Four Seasons in Milan, and of course, at VICENZAORO.

A sculpture of rare beauty, the result of fine Italian craftsmanship, spanning a production journey from Sicily to Veneto. Its creation—commissioned by Giuliana Castrenze, administrator of World Diamond Group—began near Catania, precisely in Adrano, where the marble was handcrafted, and was completed in the town of Quinto Vicentino (Vi), with the fusion and working of platinum at the Casarotto Roberto Snc workshop under the artistic direction of Cappella, an artist of international caliber.

To “weld” the platinum for the leaves and branches, a special technical study was essential to give the sculpture an almost lifelike motion, as if gently caressed by the wind. The Olive Tree is displayed inside a special motorized and specially lit case: as the piece rotates, it allows viewers to appreciate it from every angle, coming to life through the reflections and light play of the diamonds.

The White Olive Tree is an extraordinary sculpture that serves as a symbol of unity for the Italian people, who through art and culture celebrated the 150th Anniversary of Italian Unification, and who are internationally recognized and admired for their mastery and excellence, especially in the goldsmith and jewellery fields.

A symbol which, beyond the value of its precious materials, through its creativity and technical ingenuity, significantly enhances the value of Made in Italy.
