Messika’s Paris runway unveils the Okavango Blue

Messika has unveiled its new high jewellery collection, Terres de Contrastes, with a runway show at the Grand Palais during Paris Fashion Week. The collection evokes a land in perpetual renewal, where light ignites the horizon, landscapes meet at their extremes and wildlife moves with pure instinctive force. This is Botswana, brought to life in the scenography through three chromatic territories bound by elemental contrasts: the lush blues and deep greens of the Okavango Delta, the burning ochres and intense reds of the Kalahari Desert, and the mineral, dazzling whites of the Makgadikgadi salt pans, veiled in delicate shades of pink and violet at dusk. Valérie Messika’s jewels took to the runway alongside the looks created by Carine Roitfeld, who brought her vision of a natural and sensual Parisian woman to the catwalk. Adriana Lima opened the show, while Irina Shayk closed it wearing the collection’s most majestic piece, Okavango Blue, featuring the largest blue diamond ever discovered in Botswana and the eighth largest in the world. Classified as Fancy Deep Blue with VVS1 clarity, it holds earth, water and light in a unique, unrepeatable shade. The Honourable Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Botswana’s Minister of Minerals and Energy, attended the stone’s debut in the world of high jewellery.
